ABOUT DONNA

I qualified as a Personal Trainer relatively late in life after having three children and a solid 12+ years of fitness obsession!

I follow a holistic approach to fitness and believe that it's not just about exercise but that diet, lifestyle, emotional and mental wellbeing all play a role in our overall health.

Pre- children I had a background in Mental Health care working as an outreach worker, I am also a qualified counsellor and worked as a volunteer counsellor for a local Women's Aid refuge. After having my first Son I was appointed a Non Executive Director with Epping Forest Primary Care Trust.

3 years ago I trained as a children’s fitness instructor and set up and ran Kidzbootcamp- an outdoor exercise class for children.

I have always worked and had an interest in health and social care and use a lot of these skills now in my personal training.

Health and fitness are totally linked with how we feel emotionally, it can affect our relationship with food and exercise, not always to positive effect.

Understanding these links and working to change these patterns leads to long term change and results.

Having had 3 children I now also have an understanding of how your body, mind and lifestyle changes after children, when juggling work, home and children often we put our own health needs to the bottom of the list. I can totally relate to women's struggles with their body, diet and life after children ... But, this can be changed and there is definitely life after/with children... Honest!

When I'm not gym training (or being 'Mum'), I practise Yoga which also influences the way I work with clients, incorporating aspects of flexibility and core stability into training sessions.

WHY ASPIRE?

I chose the name Aspire fitness because I think it is important to work to a goal. we all aspire to something and we each have very different health and fitness aspirations.

The butterfly on the logo represents Strength and Beauty which ALL women possess, and of course butterflies also represent transformations!

The Dumbbell is placed very purposelessly at the core to represent both physical core strength and also to represent my own personal core values : honesty, integrity, belief in others and a desire to make a difference.
